This weekend - Meguiar's MotorEx

00015770-bpg-115MotorEx kicks off at Sydney Showgrounds at 10.00am Saturday morning, with the covers will be pulled off a bunch of new cars at 11.00am. One of the star attractions will be this stunning twin turbo '69 Camaro, created by Kustom City on the Gold Coast. Built for owner Michael Te Ture, the car features extensive body mods - pretty much the only standard panel being the roof and 22x13in rear rims. The donk is based around a 375ci Dart block, with Gale Banks turbos and a pair of PWR liquid-air intercoolers. The car debuted in the raw at MotorEx 2007, but will be all finished for the this year's show. Santa Maria

Probably the biggest and best show for kustoms in the US is the annual West Coast Kustoms Cruisin' Nationals, held in Santa Maria, CA each Memorial Day weekend. Here is a sneak preview of this year's event from Japan's Cruisin' magazine. Despite being written in Japanese (there is an English translation sheet provided, but it is a fairly creative transaltion), Cruisin' is one hell of a cool mag, with excellent coverage from all over the world. Check it out here

Retro Tech Classic

Neato shot of Gary Beardsley's HOT215 at the 2000 Melbourne Hot Rod Show. Featured back in SM December 1999. Ken Neilson screwed the beast together for Gary, using many of the principles he used to build his own stunning FX (SM Oct/Nov '93), including a full chassis, Commodore struts and a four-link rear. A smashed VN Calais donated much of the the rest, including the injected 5.0-litre, TH700 'box and diff.
